Arrival by train
From Germany, Switzerland and Austria South Tyrol can be reached using the German railway (DB), Swiss Railway (SBB) and Austrian Railway (ÖBB), together with the South Tyrolean and Italian railways.
Travel to Franzensfeste / Fortezza using international rail links. Then change to a local railway to Innichen / San Candido. Trains stop in Niederdorf / Villabassa, Toblach / Dobbiaco, Innichen / San Candido and Vierschach / Versciaco - Helm / Monte Elmo. From Klagenfurt travel to Innichen / San Candido via Lienz and then with the Val Pusteria railway to Vierschach / Versciaco - Helm / Monte Elmo, Toblach / Dobbiaco and Niederdorf / Villabassa. Sexten / Sesto and the Pragsertal / Valle di Braies can be easily reached using local buses from Innichen / San Candido and Niederdorf / Villabassa.

New Pustertal/Val Pusteria railway line - closures until January 2026

The Pustertal/Val Pusteria railway line will be partially or completely closed from Sunday 15 December 2024.
A replacement bus service will be provided for the duration of the works.

Details of railway line closures:

- Franzensfeste/Fortezza - Bruneck/Brunico line: closure from Sunday 15 December 2024 to Saturday 13 December 2025.
- Bruneck/Brunico - S. Candido/Innichen line: closure from Monday 14 April 2025 to Monday 2 June 2025
- Franzensfeste/Fortezza - Bruneck/Brunico line: closure from Sunday 14 December 2025 to Saturday 26 December 2026.

"Südtirol Transfer" – comfortably to your holiday accommodation

If you arrive by train or bus in South Tyrol you can use the "Südtirol Transfer”, a region-wide connection shuttle for the last few kilometres to your accommodation. You can get to your holiday accommodation from the train stations in Bolzano / 
Bozen, Meran / Merano, Mals / Malles, Brixen / Bressanone, Bruneck / Brunico or Innichen / San Candido,
as well as from the ‘Flixbus’ bus stops in Bolzano / Bozen, Meran, Klausen / Chiusa, Vahrn / Varna or Sterzing / Vipiteno and after your holiday you will be brought back to the stop.

  • Spinne-Hochpustertal On the Brennero Motorway A22 (toll road) take exit Brixen / Bressanone – Val Pusteria, then continue on the national road (SS49-E66) to the holiday region 3 Zinnen in the Dolomites. Distance from motorway exit Brixen / Bressanone – Val Pusteria: approx. 60 km.
    Please note: All Italian motorways are toll roads, Austrian motorways can only be used with a toll sticker (Vignette).
