Anna Mahler's life resembles a web of origins and time. Her famous father Gustav Maler and her overbearing mother Alma shaped her life and her sculptural work. After studying painting in Rome and Paris, she trained as a stone sculptor in Vienna. In the 1930s, her Viennese studio was a centre of encounters where writers, composers and painters met. We encountered Anna Mahler as a sculptor and as a traveller, interwoven with Vienna, Rome, Venice, Paris, London, Los Angeles and Spoleto. The biography of Anna Mahler (1904-1988) tells of the life of an impressive - and almost forgotten - woman and spans 100 years of Austrian art and intellectual history.
